With it being the beginning of the spring semester for the people out there who are in college I figured it was the perfect time to share my college town coffee shop of choice. Some of you might not know that I am a recent grad from Florida State University (GO NOLES!) and so Tallahassee, FL is like a second home to me. While some people may have looked at it and only saw the colleges or the state capitol I knew that there was so much more waiting to be found. Being the lovely little coffee addict that I am I had to seek out a new haunt to sip and study at. Within the a few weeks of my first semester I had already sniffed out the best coffee shops in the city and the one that won out as my FAVORITE was definitely Lucky Goat Coffee.

Any of you who follow me on Instagram are likely no strangers to this name or this shop. I pretty much never shut up about it. It was hands down the best shop in the city and it definitely helped that my last internship had them as a client so all we did was drink their coffee. I was one hundred percent hooked on it, enough so that people bought me their shirt, patch, cold brew pint glass, and their mug.

As you can see right in the middle of my bag is an old school Lucky Goat patch. It's a prized possession of mine.

My go to drink of choice from them was their Cuban style 6 oz. latte. If you haven’t ever heard of a Cuban style drink before let me enlighten you to one of my favorite style of drinks in the world. With this type of drink they pull the espresso with brown sugar, which gives it a caramelized sweetness that works so well with the dark bitterness of espresso. I drank a TON of these all throughout college but especially my last semester at Florida State. Almost every time I walked into one of their shops I would tell myself I was going to “mix it up” and would spend a good amount of time staring their menu down only to inevitably say “Cuban Style 6 oz. with almond milk.” What can I say; I’m a lady of habit.

Now if I wasn’t ordering a Cuban style latte you can almost guarantee I ordered a cold brew. I am a lover of cold brew for sure and I think the only thing I drank more of in college from Lucky Goat than Cuban styles was their cold brew. Both flavored and unflavored. One of the best parts about their cold brew is that it was on nitro, so it was smooth as delicious even if you never added sugar or milk to it. I loved it black and in fact I got super lucky that on my walk to my on campus job I walked past a little outdoor grill that had their cold brew on tap which pretty much fueled my existence.

The one on my way to work was unflavored but I was no stranger to their flavored cold brews either. There was one flavor in particular that I ADORED. The first was Snowflake Crunch and man oh man let me tell you about this cold brew. Snowflake Crunch is a magical combination of cinnamon, vanilla, and hazelnut that with a little simple syrup and some almond milk will completely change your life. It’s only around a few months of the year, during the holidays and then for Christmas in July, and it is honestly a highlight of my life. It’s sweet and makes it feel like Christmas even when it’s still 90 degrees during December in Florida. Snowflake Crunch is definitely one of their most popular cold brews and for good reason. It’s truly addicting and is a great holiday treat.

If you find yourself in Tallahassee please please hit up Lucky Goat Coffee. They’re a great group that makes some of my favorite coffee around. They have multiple locations that can be found through their website: www.luckygoatcoffee.com
